Baby massage classes

Image
On Friday Teddy and I went to a baby massage class in Maidstone. This was the first of 5 classes in the course, and we had a great time. We met other mamas and babies which was nice as it meant we could exchange advice and concerns we have, without being judged.  Once everyone had arrived, we took it in turns to introduce ourselves and baby. After we had gone around the room, the instructor explained a little about baby massage and the benefits it provides. Before we started she told us the sessions are going to be baby led, meaning if Teddy wanted to sleep he could, if he was hungry I could feed him and if he needed changing, I could change him. Because it's baby led, we enjoyed this as it meant we weren't pressured into taking part of Teddy wasn't feeling it.  The focus for this session was on the legs and feet. We were all given a little bottle of oil and instruction sheet to take home. We were told that to do a massage on a baby, it is best to use a cold pressed oil as ...

Late night thoughts

This is kind of a series where I’ll be posting thoughts I’ve had or questions I’ve got, but it won’t be regularly. It may happen once a week, once every 2 weeks, once a month or maybe even longer. It’s a post to encourage interaction and sharing experiences to help other mums and mums-to-be!  Talk to me about colic. I think Teddy is suffering with it and I don’t know what to do. He’s constantly crying, even during feeds, and just showing all of the signs of having it. I’ve used infacol and it’s helped, but I keep forgetting to use it before each feed and then I just have a baby who’s constantly crying! He could be in a deep sleep in my arms and the second I put him down he’s crying and screaming. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope and how to deal with a colicky baby?  S & T Xx

Posting schedule

I have finally figured out a posting schedule. It is slightly different this weekend, but will return to how I planned when the new week begins. I will be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as alternating weekend days- hence why this weekend is slightly different, as I’ve now posted both days.  I had planned on posting everyday but decided against it as I preferred the planning and preparing one day and posting the following. It also gives me more time to plan and prep for the posts the following day.  S & T Xx

Clothing haul

Image
On Thursday I went to Morrisons with my mum to do food shopping and somehow ended up in the baby clothing section. Originally I was just looking and didn't plan on buying anything, but I just couldn't help myself!  As Teddy needs more trousers, I picked up a pair of trousers, jeans and 5 pairs of jogging bottoms. I also got a jumper, long sleeved baby grow and a onesie.  I picked up the trousers as I thought they were so cute and he doesn't have any trousers like this. I also like the colour of the trousers and the braces, although they won't be worn over his shoulders, I just prefer the look of them hanging. Before I had Teddy I always said I wouldn't be putting him in jeans, but after putting him in a pair my mum bought, I couldn't wait to get more pairs! These jeans are super soft which is nice as they haven't got that stiff denim feel to them. I picked up a 2 pack and 3 pack of jogging bottoms as they are comfy and cosy as well as practical. They always ...

Night time routine

Image
Our night routine starts between 6 and 7pm. I used to aim for 6pm or just after, but sometimes it would mean waking Teddy up and there were times where he had only been asleep for 10 minutes. If by 6:40pm he isn't showing signs of waking, I will gently wake him. We start with a bath. Sometimes we share a bath and sometimes we don't. I've noticed that when we share a bath, he is more relaxed and calm. I like to bath Teddy at night as I feel the warm water is relaxing and helps settle him down for the night. At night we use the Johnson's bedtime range as it contains relaxing NatrualCalm aroma which helps to relax Teddy. After his bath I use the bedtime baby lotion as it helps to moisturise his skin, so it doesn't dry out. At this time I do a little massage to help relax him further. Once I have finished the massage and let the lotion soak in, it's time for jammies! I usually put Teddy in a sleepsuit as he wears a grobag and I don't want him getting too hot dur...

What's in our nappy bag?

I think a nappy bag is a personal thing. Choosing a bag that you want to take with you every time you leave the house is personal. What you pack in your bag is personal so I wanted to share what we had in our nappy bag. I didn't get the bag that came with my buggy as I didn't like the way it looked. Because of this I ordered a Babymoov bag. I wanted a bag big enough to carry everything I needed, but still stylish and not have a 'nappy bag' look. I am going to do a review of the bag soon, so I won't be going into too much detail about it now. This bag comes with a changing mat, bottle/food insulator and a dummy pouch. I only use the changing mat, but I like that it comes with the extras as it gives me the option to use them if I wanted. On the outside of the bag there is a zip pocket, bottle holder and 2 sections- one at the front of the bag and one at the back. In the pocket I keep his dummies. This gives me quick and easy access, should I need to get a dummy ...

Boppy feeding pillow review

Image
Teddy and I have gotten to know each other well over the last 5 weeks, and one way we became really acquainted is breastfeeding. We have gotten to know how and when to feed, how to latch properly and most importantly how to feed comfortably. It took nearly 3 weeks for me to realise that I needed to be comfortable whilst feeding Teddy, otherwise it would cause backache in the future which I really don't want. The health visitor recommended getting a pillow to use while I feed him as it will take the strain off my back, therefore avoiding backache. I hadn't given it much thought until I went into Mothercare and saw the boppy feeding pillow . I instantly fell in love with the design of it, as it's a neutral colour and has a mama and baby elephant on it which I thought was so cute! It had also been reduced and was the last one there so I snapped it up without a second thought! I couldn't wait to test it out, so as soon as we had returned home I just had to try it! OH M...

Who are we?

Good evening! Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Sara, I'm 22 and mama to Teddy. We live in a village in Kent, not too far from Sittingbourne. Now let me introduce Teddy. Teddy was born on 16/12/17 at 4:37pm (making him 5 weeks today), in Pembury hospital in Tunbridge Wells. I will post my birth story for you soon. I am a beauty and lifestyle blogger/YouTuber who wanted to start a blog dedicated to all things mama and baby, with the odd beauty post thrown in here and there. We will be reviewing products we've tried and tested, recommending days out and posting all things mama and baby! While we have lots of posts and ideas lined up, we are still working out a schedule as to when we will be uploading, so please bear with us! S & T Xx
